Sharing a bit of behind-the-scenes from a recent performance feels surreal. After four years away from the stage, stepping back into the spotlight has been both exhilarating and daunting. It’s a challenge I’ve fully embraced, despite the hurdles along the way.
When I think back to the aftermath of my accident, it’s hard to forget the words of the specialists: “It’s unlikely you’ll be able to do much again.” Those words stung, but they also fueled a fire within me. I wasn’t ready to give up on the music, the stage, or the joy of performing.
The road to recovery has been anything but easy. Over 500 physiotherapy sessions, countless other medical appointments, and hours upon hours of dedicated work later, I’ve defied the odds. Every session, every exercise, every setback was a step closer to reclaiming what I love.
Performing again has reminded me of how far I’ve come. It’s not the same as it was before the accident—I’m still finding my way, building strength, and adapting—but I’m getting there. The experience has taught me so much about resilience, determination, and the power of small, consistent efforts.
To anyone facing their own challenges, I want to say this: progress is not always linear, but every step forward, no matter how small, matters. Surround yourself with people who believe in you, keep showing up, and trust the process. You’re capable of more than you think.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Here’s to continuing the climb, one performance at a time. 💪🎻
With love,
Sophie
