Sydney Australia- my home down under!

Hey you guys,

So I know you know that Sydney is my home. As I prepare to move to Canada however, I wanted to share a few of my favorite places and a few happy moments I’ve had in the last few weeks. I’m a little emotional about moving, but it’s only for a couple of years! Yes, I was born in England, but my family are Australian, and although we have British and Scottish heritage, I’ve been here in Australia since I was a baby. It’s my home, and always will be.

My top places in Sydney are:

1. Bondi Beach

2. The Botanical Gardens

3. Vaucluse House

4. Newtown

5. The Opera House! One of the most unique and recognizable buildings in the world!

6. The Wahroonga Park and shops (yes a little obscure, but this was my local shops as a kid)

7. Gertrude and Alice

8. Palm Beach

9. Jonah’s Restaurant at Whale Beach

10. Sydney Harbour Bridge! Walk across it… look at it… celebrate New Year’s Eve there (check it out below!) whatever… it totally rocks!

You guys, I recently had one of the greatest honours of my life thus far: I was invited by the Australian Trade Commission to perform at the Gala for Sculptures by the Sea in Arhus Denmark, which was attended by and The Crown Prince and Princess of Denmark. I am a huge fan of the couple, and Mary, a fellow Aussie!

Scupltures by the Sea was originally an Australian concept and was brought to Denmark by the Crown Princess. Just beautiful and so unique!

I also got to explore Copenhagen as well, and it was absolutely fab… another world.. from the fashion with the beautiful little daisys to seeing bikes everywhere not cars! Hardly any cars. Amazing. Check out my top 5 places to check out in Copenhagen:

  1. The Tivoli Gardens
  2. Rosenborg Palace
  3. The Little Mermaid & Hans Christian Andersen
  4. The Royal Danish Theatre with it’s unique design
  5. Christiania- a freetown, with it’s own laws, separate to the city of Copenhagen!

I had an absolute blast! See you soon Australia, my beautiful home….

Sculpture by the Sea is Australia’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibition, which was inaugurated in 1997. In 2009, it was announced that Aarhus in Denmark would host the first Sculpture by the Sea exhibition outside of Australia, initiated by Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark. Sophie will have the great honour to perform at this year’s gala event opening the exhibition, by invitation of the Australian Trade Commission of Denmark. The event will be attended by the Crown Prince and Princess.

Helloooo from Tokyo you guys!

This trip has been WILD! Japan is another world indeed. Last night I had dinner at Gonpachi AKA the “Kill Bill Restaurant” with a childhood friend- the daughter of one of my father’s friends. It was delicious, and it was hilarious and a little unsettling how the chefs all shout and chop up the sushi with swords! Also did a little Karaoke I’m not going to lie haha!

I’ve been exploring, shopping, and had a little visit to Yamaha Music Tokyo as well. I performed at the opening of a new flagship store for 7 For All Mankind… I LOVE these jeans!

See you back in Sydney soon! If you’re in Tokyo, send me a message on Facebook or Myspace!

Hey you guys!

I have had such a blast these few months here in Paris. I’ve been back and forth from Sydney to Paris since January 2007 now… and you guys know I’ve been performing a tonne. The audiences are just so welcoming! I have LOVED walking absolutely everywhere with my violin… exploring this beautiful city. I’ve been writing a load of music as well, in this dreamy state. I don’t even need to share my favorite places, I’m sure those of you who have been to Paris know the typical places, and they’ve weaved their magic on me just like everyone else. I have to share however, that my experiences might just be the romantic musician in me, because a friend from school came to stay and all she could see was the dirt and the streets where dog owners don’t pick up after their dogs! We all see something different don’t we! If you’re in Paris, send me a note!
