On November 21st, 2014, I performed at the 8th Annual Blue Angel Dinner in Edmonton — and it turned out to be the most successful year yet for this beautiful event, raising over $100,000.00 for a cause close to so many hearts in the community.
The Blue Angel Dinner is an annual charity gala and live auction hosted by St. Michael’s Health Group, held that evening at the elegant Fairmont Hotel Macdonald. St. Michael’s has spent decades caring for seniors across Edmonton and beyond under the motto “Care with Love and Dignity,” and every dollar raised at the Blue Angel Dinner goes directly toward the essential care, recreational programs, and quality of life their residents deserve.
There’s a particular kind of energy in a room full of people who’ve gathered specifically to give back — the live auction buzzing, the generosity in the air, and a shared sense that the night’s success would translate directly into better days for people who’ve earned nothing less. Being asked to provide the music for an evening like that, and to be part of pushing the fundraising total to a new high, is exactly the kind of night that reminds me why performing for a cause matters so much to me.
Thank you Malika Rajani for dressing me for the event, and to everyone at St. Michael’s Health Group— thank you for letting me be part of something that made such a real difference.
